 Jean-Paul van Poppel was very satisfied after the 1st stage in the Tour de L'Aude.
Jean-Paul van Poppel was very satisfied after the 1st stage in the Tour de L'Aude. The manager of Team Flexpoint saw that his riders passed that tough climb very well during the stage. "Finally it ended up in a bunch sprint but we had Neben and Gunnewijk in that break of 5 that went away. If Ljungskog didn't had a flat tire we had three riders in front. It has not any value so far but it's good for the confidence in the next days". The stage ended up in a sprint won by Marianne Vos (DSB Bank).
Tomorrow will be the Team Time-Trial. A discipline in which the team is very good. Van Poppel "It's a pity that Iris Slappendel is ill, otherwise we had a good chance to win. I'm counting on Raleigh tomorrow. For the GC it's important to keep an eye on T-Mobile and Nürnberger. It will be an exciting stage and we are very confident about a good result." |
